Oh Hey Dallas....

So here are a few things I feel like make Dallas AWESOME. I only wish I did these things more OFTEN!!

1.) DEEP ELLUM - What a cool area that I feel like gets a bad rap because its a little rough. But there are cool bars and REALLY good restautants down there.

La Grange-this bar dubs it's self "Swanky-Tonk". Sounds like my kind of place! ALSO, they serve ADULT snowcones. AWESOME.

Twisted Root: Damn good food. Burgers, fried EVERYTHING,etc. Love it.

2.) TACO STANDS-Wow I love tacos...especially if they are on fresh corn tortillas! and I am not the only one...Check out the Observers Blog and Story about the DART line to Tacos.

I think that's all that needs to be said. YUM!

3.) Dallas Farmers Market- I went to the Farmers market last week for the first time. WOW! Its amazing and awesome. Did you know there is a little mexican food joint that smelled DIVINE! Also, I got fresh peaches and grapes from east texas for $7. They were amazing. I heard a rumor that they are closing the Farmers Market. I hope that isn't true because I have a lot more buying to do. The colors and the FRESH fruits and Veggies are well worth the trip!!

4.) Drive In Movie-Ok so the Drive-In Theater is in Ennis. But its really not that far from Dallas. 35 miles down I-45 awaits Galaxy Drive-In. 4 Screens showing DOUBLE FEATURES 7 days a week. $6 dollars gets you in for two movies. Let's load up and head down there.

3 Friends, 3 Albums...Why you should be listening!

I have very talented friends! Today I wanted to give a shout out to 3 guys I love and the music they play! I encourage you to check out these 3 artists and go see them when they are in your area!

1. Kyle Cruz-How to Fly

Hometown: Oklahoma City, OK

Genre: singer/songwriter

You will love Kyle if you like: John Mayer, Brian McKnight, Stevie Wonder

How to Fly: This album was a labor of love. And man was it worth the wait. After recording and writing for two years Kyle has put together a debut album that most artists would only dream of. From the first song 'Mexico' to the heartbreaking 'Hot Chocolate' Kyle impresses with awesome guitar melodies and even smoother vocals. Keep this guy on your radar!

BDB's Favorite: I'm not Ready
Radio Worthy: Shake It

2. Brain Milson-Saltwater Cowboy

Hometown: Odessa, TX

Genre: Traditional Honky Tonk Country

You will Love Brian if you like:  Kevin Fowler, Hank Williams, George Strait

Saltwater Cowboy-Brain is true country. While you might hear him cover a few Top 40 songs (or maybe some Prince) but his traditional sound is a welcome escape from what is on country radio currently. The current single on country radio is called Saltwater Cowboy. A great summer song. Brian's debut album called 'Walking a Thin Line' featured 9 of 10 songs that Brian wrote himself. If you are into Willie, Waylon and Merle...do not miss Brian Milson. Check his tour schedule with dates in Austin and Fort Worth soon.

BDB's Favorite: Outlaw's Prayer
Radio Worthy: Saltwater Cowboy, Come Undone

3. Keegan McInroe-From the Wall & In the City

Hometown: Lubbock, TX

Genre: Americana, Blues, Roots

You will love Keegan if you like: Bob Dylan,Tom Waits

From the Wall & In the City: This is Keegan's second album as a solo artist. He started a band called Catfish Whiskey that put out one album and then he went solo with Mozelle. While the lyrics in the current album might be a little to political for some I prefer to listen to the music and get my groove on. Keegan recruited a cast of musicians from Fort Worth and the Metroplex to put together this rocking, play it loud journey.

BDB's Favorite: Dogs
Radio Worthy: Genesis Six Blues

All 3 are a little different but all are super talented sonwriters and performers. I hope you will check them out and spread the word about these guys!!

A Little Preview..

So I spent the past weekend in Austin, TX with some of the greatest people I have ever met. My college girlfriends. And while not everyone could attend it was so refreshing to see everyones face...I am going to post more photos and commentary but for now a little preview.

Why I watched the World Cup

Lets face it...I am from West Texas where football is king and soccer is really just not cool. SO ...needless to say I never played it or really got into it. I know lots of people that have played and I give props to them because its 90 minutes of running around like CRAZY!

But then the World Cup comes around and its on ESPN all the time! Again..not a soccer fan until I started watching and saw this....
Tim Cahill-Australia

AND THIS....

Iker Casillas-Spain

AND THIS...

Landon Donovan-USA USA USA

WHEW!! I mean wow....How can you not watch it!!!

On the other hand I could have done with out this one...

So I think the show the Bachelor and The Bachelorette are ridiculous. I don’t believe that anyone can believe they will truly find “love” in the short time that the show is airing. Possibly because of all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on that you don’t see. Example: How many thousands of guys sent in tapes to date Ali? And 6 producers sat in room laughing, joking and picking the guys that would appear on the show. At the end of the day…it is about the ratings! Also, Dating is not like this in real life. Every date you go on is not on a Glacier in Alaska or a helicopter in the islands. No it’s usually dinner at Old Monk or The Porch and maybe a drink afterwards. Maybe a Friday night out and then drunkly stumbling home to one or the others house to make-out or well…you know.

But, this got me thinking as well. Ali quit her job and left things behind to spend uninterrupted devoted time to finding her “Prince Charming.” She has nothing else to focus on but this! Can you imagine—what if at 25 you could say…Alright I am taking the next 6 months to only focus on finding my soul-mate. You would have to worry about working or bills or anything else.

We are constantly trying to balance life while trying to find the one person to be the salt to your pepper. I can only imagine what it would be like to be able to focus on something like that with no consequences.

If you could take 6 weeks off and focus on ONE thing what would it be? Finding love? Learning a Language? Perfect Job?
