So I think the show the Bachelor and The Bachelorette are ridiculous. I don’t believe that anyone can believe they will truly find “love” in the short time that the show is airing. Possibly because of all the behind the scenes stuff that goes on that you don’t see. Example: How many thousands of guys sent in tapes to date Ali? And 6 producers sat in room laughing, joking and picking the guys that would appear on the show. At the end of the day…it is about the ratings! Also, Dating is not like this in real life. Every date you go on is not on a Glacier in Alaska or a helicopter in the islands. No it’s usually dinner at Old Monk or The Porch and maybe a drink afterwards. Maybe a Friday night out and then drunkly stumbling home to one or the others house to make-out or well…you know.

But, this got me thinking as well. Ali quit her job and left things behind to spend uninterrupted devoted time to finding her “Prince Charming.” She has nothing else to focus on but this! Can you imagine—what if at 25 you could say…Alright I am taking the next 6 months to only focus on finding my soul-mate. You would have to worry about working or bills or anything else.

We are constantly trying to balance life while trying to find the one person to be the salt to your pepper. I can only imagine what it would be like to be able to focus on something like that with no consequences.

If you could take 6 weeks off and focus on ONE thing what would it be? Finding love? Learning a Language? Perfect Job?

  1. well, mks, i'm so excited that you have joined the blog world and can't wait to get updates and thoughts from you!!

i have been pondering this "if we had 6 months to focus on something" question. it sort of reminds me of Eat, Pray, Love. in that case she nearly has a breakdown and then gives herself time to rest, learn Italian, travel. while we all can pick up and do this, it's awfully fun to think about! what if we just had a 6 month chunk of time...where we didn't have to worry about anything...what if??!!

  2. I agree with everything you said, but I still love watching Ali and laughing out loud! I would love to be on the show just so I could travel to all the locations, then at the end I would say "thanks, but no thanks.....see ya!" Of course I may be a little old to apply!
Keep writing, I love your blog and you!
